The Official Retractable Screen Door of Southern California known as the StowAway Retractable Screen Door is your modern alternative to a traditional swinging or sliding screen. Consisting of a housing, pull bar, tracks, sill adapter, mold, and handles, a Retractable Screen Door is attached to the exterior or interior of a door or window frame. When not in use, the screen retracts into its protective housing canister. A spring installed in every Retractable Screen Door allows the screen to retract on its own when released from the magnet. The rate at which the screen accelerates back into the housing canister is controlled by either a Fast Close pin or Slow Close Hydraulic Speed Reducer.

Nylon end caps wrap around the top and bottom tracks of the pull bar for a smooth operation. Tracks allow the pull bar to freely slide back and forth within the opening. In order for the screen to be able to retract, it is not attached at the top or bottom of the opening. The screen mesh on a retractable screen system is made to sit within the top and bottom track to ensure superior protection. Sill adapters and moldings help create the perfect frame for your Retractable Screen. While in use, the pull bar is held in place by a magnet installed on the side opposite the housing.

StowAway Retractable Screen Doors are custom built to fit any opening and can accommodate heights up to 108” tall. A Single Door Retractable Screen can accommodate widths between 0”-72”. A Double Door Retractable Screen can accommodate widths between 0”-144”.

StowAway Retractable Screen Doors are available in Tiger Drylac custom powder coated colors. You can select your aluminum housing, pull bar, tracks, sill adapter, mold, and handles from one of the custom colors to complement your home. StowAway Retractable Screen Doors come standard with durable, stiffened Black Fiberglass Mesh and can span up to 72” wide. Optional specialty meshes include:
- Solar No-See-Um: Keeps out tiny insects
- Solar Medium: Blocks approximately 80% of UV rays
- Solar Maximum: Blocks approximately 90% of UV rays
- Polyester Pet: Weather-resistant and 3x stronger than standard fiberglass mesh
Specialty mesh options accommodate single screens up to 56” wide.

Sill Adapters
Our Stowaway Retractable Screen Doors come standard with a sill adapter, which will aesthetically complete a Retractable Screen Door installation and prevent potential damage to the bottom track. The sill adapter provides a seamless blending of the new screen to your existing threshold and frame. In many installations, the sill adapter is a necessary component for proper screen operation and support.
