Centor Screens Maintenance
Centor Screens Maintenance Suggestions
Complying with our Centor Screens Maintenance suggestions will guarantee stress-free service from your Centor Screens. Keep Centor Screens clean by doing routine maintenance. A little cleaning once a month will prevent a major cleaning project.
1. Watch Your Screens Operation
Watch your screen’s operation while it is in motion to make sure it is functioning properly.
Centor Screens are meant to provide protection from the sun and insects as well as privacy. Their retention and/or security of objects, animals, or persons inside or outside your home is limited. Be aware that Centor Screens are made of screen mesh or fabric, which can be damaged, chewed, scratched, or cut.
Always make sure that the screen mesh is not riding outside of the track. This could cause the screen mesh to bend, fray, and/or snag when rolling back into the housing.
In very windy conditions, keep the screen rolled up into the housing unit to prevent wind damage. Closely observe your screen’s retraction during windy conditions. Do not leave your screen in use while you’re not at home.
2. Track Cleaning
Keep tracks free of dirt and debris, which may cause the screen to perform poorly. Clean bottom and top tracks every month. Remove loose dirt from the Centor Screen tracks with canned air or a vacuum with a soft brush attachment.
After removing dirt from the tracks, use a soft damp cloth and non-abrasive cleaning substance to wipe them down. Do not spray the cleaning substance directly onto the tracks. Spray the cleaning substance into the soft damp cloth, then wipe the tracks down.
Do Not scrub the tracks as this will damage the powder coated, anodized, or wood veneer surface instantly.
Do Not use oil, WD40, grease, petroleum, or oil-base sprays as these will attract dirt or impair the proper operation of your screen.
3. Screen Mesh or Fabric Cleaning
The Screen Mesh and Fabric on the Centor Screens can be cleaned with a vacuum by using a soft upholstery brush attachment. Carefully vacuum both sides taking caution not to snag the Screen Mesh or Fabric itself.
For dirt that’s hard to remove, clean the Screen Mesh and Fabric with water and a soft brush. A mild detergent, like dish soap, may be used, but Do Not use chemicals. Test a small, unnoticeable area before cleaning the entire Screen Mesh or Fabric to confirm ideal results. After cleaning the Screen Mesh or Fabric, rinse it thoroughly and allow it to fully dry before retracting. Cleaning the unit first thing in the morning on a hot, sunny day is ideal.
4. Aluminum Cleaning
The Housings, Pull Bars, and Tracks are manufactured from extruded aluminum, and they are either powder coated or anodized for a brilliant finish.
Wipe down all aluminum parts with a soft, damp cloth and non-abrasive cleaning substance. Do Not spray the cleaning substance directly onto the aluminum finish. Spray the cleaning substance into the soft, damp cloth and then wipe down the aluminum finish.
Do Not abrasively scrub the aluminum finish as this will damage the surface instantly.
