Clear View or Tilt Rod

Clear View - refers to a hidden aluminum rod along the back of the shutter that connects and coordinates the movements of the louvers. With this design, there is no need for a tilt rod. This gives the front of the shutter a clean look. The shutters can still be easily opened by rotating any individual louver.

Tilt Rod - is the center vertical bar on a panel that coordinates the movement of the louvers by connecting them to one another. When opening or closing the louvers, use the tilt rod to operate the desired location.

A divider rail is sometimes placed between the top and bottom rail to add structure and integrity to the panel. The divider rail can be position at any spot desired. The divider rail also enables the louvers in the upper section to move independently from those in the lower section.

Door Handle Cut Out Options

French Doors occasionally come with a lever type of handle which protrudes into the glass section of the door. In these situations, the French Door shutter will need a cut out. We offer a half circle or rectangular cut out. Typically a standard 4 ¼” half circle cut out is enough to accommodate most levers, though we also offer a 5 ¼” and 6 ¼”.

Frames

The shutter frame is a profile used to frame the shutter panels. Frames provide a square and even mounting structure for the panels and can help compensate for an out of square opening while at the same time offering a decorative trim to the window opening.
