The StowAway Retractable Screen can be applied to French doors, Single doors, Dutch doors, Sliders and Windows. The StowAway Screen is the highest quality screen you will find in the market today. It’s the only retractable screen made in the U.S.A, the only retractable screen with the slow close reducer that allows a safe, slow and gentle retraction of the screen back into the housing unit. The safe close mechanism also eliminates the loud slamming noise other retractable screens typically make. Additional closing options such as the gear slow close and the original fast close are available as well.

The StowAway Screen is mounted to the exterior face or interior frame of a doorway. The screen mesh itself is attached to a roller tube that spins on a vertical axis within the assembly's housing. The screen is also attached to a vertical pull bar that rides on two rails and is used to stretch the screening material across the door opening. By design, the screen mesh on retractable screens is not attached on the top or the bottom (this allows the screen to roll into the housing). However, the screen is still bug- proof because the screen mesh goes up into the top railing and down into the bottom railing. The pull bar end caps are wrapped around a t-track on the top and bottom railings creating an insect resistant tight seal. This t-track creates a nice even retraction, which means no more pull bars ever coming off the track again like other models in the industry. Once deployed, the pull bar is fixed in place by one or more magnets installed on the side opposite the housing. An optional grabber catch system is available in place of magnets, which is a great feature if you are close to the ocean. When you are ready to close the screen, the screen retracts back into the housing.

Along with being the only retractable screen that has an enclosed back on the housing, the StowAway Screen also integrates a sill system into your threshold to give the bottom rail the support that it needs. A sill is used so that our bottom railing that the screen glides on always has a 90 degree angle to rest up against. This ensures that you can step on the sill on a day to day basis and never worry about bending the rail.

Our retractable screens use nylon components which are heat and ultra violet (UV) resistant and allow greater strength and durability. Nylon is a synthetic thermoplastic material characterized by strength, elasticity, resistance to abrasion and chemicals, low moisture absorbency, and the capacity to be permanently set by heat. We opt-out from using cheaper plastic components because we want you to enjoy your retractable screen without broken and/or fractured components. Let’s face it, we only want to hear from you when you want another screen!

The extruded aluminum is available in 12 powder coated colors, 3 veneer finishes, 3 anodized finishes and mill. This durable, long lasting appearance of all StowAway Retracting Screens is made possible with the finest organic materials available. Powder coating and anodizing is the finish of the future and it is here today. It’s tough, attractive, durable, long lasting, scratch resistant, and cost effective.

To ensure an exact fit, we will come out to your home to take measurements and show you our product. We bring a hand held demo unit (single door on one side/double door on the other side), frame color chip samples and samples of the screen mesh choices. Sill samples are also brought to show you how we will incorporate one of our sills off of your existing threshold. Optional features such as upgraded screen mesh, internal magnets, grabber catches, recessed handles, locks, latches, pet guards, cleaning kits and sirens are offered at the measure as well.

By design, the mesh on all Retractable Screens in the industry is not attached at the top or bottom of a vertical application which allows the screen to roll into the housing when retracted. On a horizontal application the mesh is not attached on the left or right. Additionally, our durable Retractable Screen Doors are the only screen doors designed with an enclosed back on the housing canister to keep debris out of the spinning components, adding years of convenience and pleasure to your doors plus a finished look not only from the front but always from the back.

StowAway Retractable Screens come with a limited lifetime warranty that covers the entire product except for the screen mesh. (Typical wear and tear expected).
